KidsAndCars.org Saves Young Lives Every Year

Literally every 12-14 hours, a child will be left unattended in or around a vehicle with dire consequences somewhere in the U.S.  Hypothermia, power window-related injuries, and low-speed injuries such as rollover accidents are the types of tragedies that occur when children are left alone in or around cars. This worsening public health issue is causing death and injury because people still believe that is safe to leave kids alone in vehicles.

A Quartet of the World’s Tallest Buildings

The world is full of many astonishing and eye-catching sites, some of which are natural and others which are man-made. Buildings, which fall into the latter category, are some of the most amazing structures created by humans. Some buildings are considered unique because of the materials they are made from, while others are popular as a result of their size and height. However, when it comes to the construction of tall buildings, drilling services must be rendered by professionals. For instance, professionals in drilling in New York offer expertise services.

Many Theories, More Questions: How Were The Pyramids Actually Built?

There have been many hypotheses about the Egyptian pyramid construction techniques. These techniques seem to have developed over time; later pyramids were not constructed in the same way as earlier ones. Most of the construction hypotheses are fascinating and based on the belief that huge stones were carved from quarries with copper chisels, and these blocks were then dragged and lifted into position. Disagreements chiefly concern the methods used to move and place the stones.

Distracted Pedestrians are a National Epidemic

A woman was checking her cell phone for the nearest bus stop recently in the Bay Area. She became confused and realized she was standing on the wrong corner and saw her bus about to leave across the street. On impulse she dashed towards the bus, waving her arms while focused only on trying to get the bus driver’s attention. She did not even turn to look as another oncoming vehicle approached her left side. This could have been a fatal mistake but thanks to the quick reaction of the car’s driver, she escaped harm but was shaken and full of remorse for her lack of foresight.

The History and Interesting Facts about Levees

Speakers of American English (notably in the Midwest and Deep South), use the word levee, from the French word levée (from the feminine past participle of the French verb lever, "to raise"). It originated in New Orleans a few years after the city's founding in 1718 and was later adopted by English speakers. The name derives from the trait of the levee's ridges being raised higher than both the channel and the surrounding floodplains.

The Importance of a Well-Designed Strong and Durable Foundation

The strength of a building lies in its foundation. The main purpose of any foundation is to hold the structure above it and keep it standing. On the contrary, a poorly constructed foundation can be highly dangerous to its occupants and the neighborhood for obvious reasons. With high-rise buildings climbing higher and higher, it has become even more crucial to have powerful foundations in large cities.
